Numerous fungi are capable of superficially invading the skin, hair, nails, mouth, and groin. Superficial fungal infections are often caused by overgrowth of transient or resident flora. The three fungi genera that cause these infections are: dermatophytes, Candida spp., and Malassezia furfur. Examples of Fungal infections include:
Tinea Corporis (Ringworm)
Tinea Capitis
Tinea Pedis (Athlete’s foot)
Tinea Cruris (Jock itch)
Tinea Unguium (Nail Fungus)
Tinea Versicolor
