About Rosacea
Rosacea is a common chronic inflammatory skin disorder of the pilosebaceious units of the face along with increased reactivity of the capillaries leading to flushing and telangiectasia. Rosacea can be categorized into four types. Erythematotelangiectatic Rosacea includes persistent redness with telangiectases. Papulopustular Rosacea involves persistent redness, telangiectases, papules, and tiny pustules. Phymatous Rosacea involves persistent deep redness, dense telangiectases, papules, pustules, nodules, and can progress to sebaceous hyperplasia causing disfigurement of the nose, forehead, eyelids, ears, and chin. Occular Rosacea affects the eyes and be characterized by dryness, irritation, and redness (chronic blepharitis, conjunctivitis, and episclaritis).
